Saving Money On
Equipment Depending on where they
live, large numbers of kids participate in soccer in the spring and
sometimes in the fall as well. Making sure their child has the proper
equipment and outfits need not cause a financial strain on the
parent's budget.
There are a number of ways
to save money while buying the necessary clothing for soccer:
** Look to see if soccer
clothes from an older brother or sister worn previously will fit.
** Check out garage sales
for socks and shorts. (Although numerous soccer leagues include a
t-shirt as part of their program)
** Another good place to
look for shoes, socks, and shorts are at consignment shops and
stores.
** Contact family, neighbors
and friends that had kids who played soccer the previous season (an
opportunity to buy stuff at garage sale prices or possibly free).
** Buy soccer apparel at a
sporting goods store when they are on sale (many stores will have youth
soccer packages where 3 or 4 soccer items are bundled together at a
reduced price)
** Use sport store coupons
(hint: if you can combine it with a bundle package, you save even more)
** Use the Internet to find sites that allow wanted postings and items
for sale like Craigslist.
** Buy children's soccer
clothing online (eBay, Target, Amazon, etc.)
Not only should parents look
for deals when buying their child's soccer clothing and gear, they
should pay attention to whether the uniforms, shoes and shin pads fit
properly. Go with the same sizing as they use for their regular
clothing.
